Lot Description:

Andrew Barclay of Kilmarnock
0-4-0 Industrial Locomotive No. 1609 of 1918. Named TOM PARRY and supplied new to the Central Portland Cement Company Ltd., Kirton Lindsey, Lincolnshire.
Following the withdrawal of the locomotive from service at their Houghton Regis plant in Bedfordshire in 1967, APCM donated it to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton Road.
This Locomotive has recently undergone an extensive nut and bolt cosmetic restoration (for display purposes only). No expense spared. The locomotive was sand blasted, stripped, painted, re-assembled and then waxed in all the cavities for added protection. Professionally pin striped by well-known heritage vehicle painter Adam Meredith. The ‘Railway Retreats’ lettering is vinyl so can be easily removed just leaving the pin striping.
Currently a ‘gate guard’ for the Railway Retreats holiday accommodation business situated adjacent to Northiam station on the Kent & East Sussex Railway. Can be viewed from the adjacent highway.
Photos of this work accompany the sale. (No boiler tubes are present) Ideal restoration project or as a statement ‘gate guard’ for your property.

Lot Description:

S.R Enamel Station Running-In Board ARDINGLY FOR ARDINGLY COLLEGE. A station on the former Sussex branch line from Haywards Heath to Horsted Keynes, closed to passengers in 1963 and now the site of a roadstone plant at the stub of a freight branch from the Brighton Main Line. Ex-station condition. It was only the two running-in boards that bore the extra legend re the college (the target signs were simply ‘Ardingly’) and the other board is in the care of Bluebell Railway Museum, so a rare opportunity to acquire a Central Division closed station running-in board. Size 8ft 6in x 1ft 11in. Buyer to collect from a Sussex location.
